As a writer & mother, words are so important.
After walking barefoot in the park the other day, I showed the baby a patch of dirt on my foot, and said, “Eww!” Since then he has been pointing to his beautiful, clean, pudgy feet, his adorable belly button & other perfect (mashAllah) body parts & saying, “Eww!” with great disgust.
Even our small or thoughtless actions and words have impact, especially on our children – but not always in the way that we expect or want.
After a four-year-long journey, I am proud to announce that my non-fiction anthology, Love, InshAllah: The Secret Love Lives of American Muslim Women, is ready to hit the shelves on Valentine’s Day 2012!
