The silver city turned golden today, no trace of fog in the heat that sent skirts climbing, humans sunbathing, and animals fleeing to shade.
Bean and I sat by the pool above the waterfalls of the MLK Jr memorial, on a bench shaded by two trees in spring bloom. I had that feeling you get when you look around and feel a memory being etched into your soul.
Blue sky above, children and birds bathing in the pool nearby, blessed heat warming my bones, and Bean drinking milk happily in his stroller.
And then it began. The breeze blew dozens of small, white blossoms from the sheltering trees down upon us. Eyes and mouths oh’d in delight, blossoms catching in hair and alighting on fingertips, and upon the baby’s bare, wiggly toes.
Blossoms raining down on us like the blessings in my life made suddenly visible.
