1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the 5th Sentence.
4. Post the next 3 sentences.
5. Tag 5 people.
This excerpt is from one of my recent favorites Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.
From page 123, sentences 5-8 (5th included for context before the 3ish sentences):
‘”Our whole business therefore in this life,” wrote Saint Augustine, rather Yogically, “is to restore to health the eye of the heart whereby God may be seen.”
Like all great philosophical ideas, this one is simple to understand but virtually impossible to imbibe. OK- so we are all one, and divinity abides within us equally… But now try living from that place. Try putting that understanding into practice twenty-four hours a day.’
I tag: Br Naeem, Littlelake, Molly, Imelda, Aaminah and Maithri (if you wish to do it) and anyone else who wishes to!

Ooo, I’m in the middle of a book group for Eat, Pray, Love. I’m listening to it because I can’t give reading time to anything other than school right now. I loved that line, especially after listening to a Catholic Buddha scholar talk a bunch of gobbledy-gook over my head at a recent conference.

I just finished Eat, Pray, Love a few weeks ago, and it really is an amazing book. I’m looking forward to her upcoming book due out next year.

To give it some context, it’s about phases of team development and cohesion during projects. Hey, it was “the nearest book”!!!
“When the team addresses early gaps and disagreements, the project runs better. The rewards coming out of storming are periods of productivity and teamwork called norming, a rebalancing and recalibrating step that occurs during reforming, and a final surge of team output, called performing. Each stage is unique and requires skills in teamwork, communications, conflict management, change management, and project management.”

Salaam all and welcome Chickpea,
Rebecca: I read it for a book club too – we had the biggest turn-out ever and people found so many of her insights spoke to them.
And, of course, we all wanted to move to Italy too just so that we could put on 20 pounds of heavenly handmade pasta weight!
Chickpea: I believe they’re making EPL into a movie starring Julia Roberts too. I saw Gilbert on Oprah (!) and she seems like a lovely person, though somewhat startled at having written the “women’s Bible” as it’s been called.
Loveshaheen: Thanks so much for doing the meme – I didn’t have your url or else I could have tagged you
Darvish: It’s a humorous and insightful read – I think you’ll like it.
Abdul: Thank you!
BrNaeem: You created a meme! Incredible!
Basil: Reading that was…transforming!
Warmly,
Baraka
